Create4Peace

Mission:
Supporting peace building activities through creative initiatives
 
Vision:
We believe in the capacity of the creative arts to support and enhance a broad range of peace building activities and programs including: peace education, trauma healing, dialogue facilitation, restorative justice, and development. We adhere to a holistic music therapy and expressive art therapy approach, that utilizes visual and media arts, performing arts (music, drama, dance), and creative writing as a medium to foster empathetic interactions, promote deeper understanding among people, support education, strengthen indigenous approaches to peace, and provide healing.

About Us:
 
Vanessa Contopulos, MA, MT-BC: Vanessa is a board certified music therapist from Southern California. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Redlands in Music and Psychology. As a Rotary World Peace Fellow, 2008-2009, Vanessa completed her master’s degree in Conflict Resolution at the University of Bradford in England. Vanessa has worked in music education and music therapy for the last 10 years, and has also taught and directed musical theatre. Vanessa has used creative arts such as music to strengthen education, communication, and empowerment programs for children with special needs, children affected by armed conflict and refugees, and to support training and dialogue facilitation.
 
Talia Morales, MT-BC: Talia is a board certified music therapist. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas in Music Therapy. She is currently an MA candidate in the expressive art therapy program through The European Graduate School. Since 2002, she has worked with a variety of populations in the United States and abroad. Talia currently works as a music therapist servicing the special education departments in the greater San Diego County schools working collaboratively with students, their families, educators and therapists on how to use music as a motivating tool for learning, greater communication and meaningful social interaction. Talia is a member of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), an honorary member of the National Natural Medicine Institute of Perú (INAMEN) and a collaborating member of the Publication Commission of the Peruvian Music Therapy Association (APEM).
